Deflection

Hello,

Hope you are doing good with your chess career. So, in this post we shall see a tactical theme called - Deflection!

In some cases, we can win the game or win a piece or can have the advantage using deflection. As the name suggests, we can deflect any of our opponent's pieces which supports his other piece or pawn.

So by deflecting the supporting piece, we can get the supported piece!

I will give you an example

White to move and win.

As we can see the black queen on e7 supports the rook on d8. So we can deflect it and can with rook on d8. How could it be done?

The solution is this :

1.Qf6+ Qxf6 2.exf6+ Kxf6 3.Rxd8 Rxd8 4.Rxd8 and white is a rook up!

I hope you enjoyed this post, will see you in the next one!

Thank you!

Chess Compositions - Introduction

Hello,

I am glad to talk to you. Today, in this post, I am going to tell you something interesting. Many players think that by solving tactical puzzles helps them to improve their tactical play or attacking style. I am not saying that they are wrong. It is true that if we solve tactical puzzles, it helps us to improve our tactical play and we can think a lot quickly.

But, that ONLY will NOT help you. You should use your brain. You should give your brain a lot of work. For that, you can solve endings and some COMPOSITIONS.

Compositions are those puzzles which are composed ( created ) by some person ( normally by masters ). Solving those puzzles are not easy.

So let me give you such a puzzle now.

White to move and checkmate in 4.

We can simply say that white has two bishops and he can simply win. But, you have to give some work for your brain. I am not saying that when you are a piece up, you should not play simply but give work for your brain. This is just a method of TRAINING.

So here, white has to play and checkmate in 4. Can your brain get it?

SOLUTION :

1.Bc2 bxc2 2.b3 cxb3 3.Ba3 b2+ 4.Bxb2#

So how is it? Isn't that looking in such a way that your brain gets some work! In this way, you can improve your thinking capacity!

I hope you liked it! Try this method and see whether it helps for your thinking or not!

I will continue this in the next part of this post!

Thank you!

Hello everyone,

I am a chess player from India of FIDE rating around 1700. I want to share my chess knowledge with you, my friends. So, I have started this Chess Strike blog so that I can share my chess knowledge with you and also, I get an opportunity to interact with you people.

I first, started the Chess Strike blog in the start of 2012. The first Chess Strike blog is - http://chessstrike.blogspot.com/ - You can find chess news, chess puzzles and more, in that blog.

My friends advised me that the blog looks quite commercial. They meant that it does not focus absolutely as far as learning chess is concerned.

You can also participate with me by commenting on the posts and giving feedback.

You can also find my chess videos at http://youtube.com/chessstrike1/ - You can subscribe to that channel for getting notifications when a video is uploaded.

And by the way, the Chess Strike blog - http://chessstrike.blogspot.com/ - will still be in use. I will also continue with that blog. There you can still find chess news, puzzles and other things.
